REBELLION clinches Le Mans Series Manufacturers’ title

Lola-Toyota LMP1 #12 in action

Hot on the heels of Toyota Motorsport GmbH (TMG) setting a new electric lap record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife comes a Le Mans Series Manufacturers’ championship title for the boys (and girls) in Cologne.

TMG supplies a V8 3.4-litre petrol engine, which can deliver over 500 hp, to the REBELLION Racing team, which competes in the LMP1 category of the Le Mans Series running a Lola-Toyota, with chassis technology from Lola.

Shortly after landing at Frankfurt Airport, we headed directly to the exhibition hall, or Messe, to help with the final bits and pieces before the doors opened on Tuesday morning for the Press Days of the 2011 IAA Frankfurt Motor Show. It was an interesting experience for me to say the least. In Geneva, I arrived when everything was already sparkling under the spotlights. This time, I could really get a sense of how much work actually goes into putting up a display at motor shows.

The exhibition centre in Frankfurt is just immense. After the first few hours there, I quickly realised that my colleagues were not joking when they told me the Frankfurt Motor Show was quite a bit bigger than Geneva.

Arrival of the Press Kits

Our office here at Toyota Motor Europe in Brussels is abuzz with final preparations for the 2011 IAA Frankfurt Motor Show. Everything around here has been going around at warp speed but our colleagues Christine and Laurence spared a just a moment to show us their excitement with the arrival of freshly printed press kits, ready for next week.

On location in Frankfurt, other colleagues, having already arrived, are putting together the finishing touches to the Toyota and Lexus stands. Jan, our resident motor show expert, will be spending the final few days to make sure that all the vehicles, visuals and everything else are in perfect condition before the grand unveiling to the world’s media next Tuesday.
