Another weekend at the Green Hell – VLN3 Race Round-up
GAZOO Racing and Toyota Swiss Racing Team both took to the track again last weekend at the Nürburgring to tackle the VLN3 race. Both teams successfully managed a number of Top 3 positions in their classes after the four-hour race, cut short slightly following a red flag incident involving a BMW and Ginetta G50 (both drivers were uninjured). Race results after the break.
The GAZOO Racing Lexus LFA (#152) finished top in the SP8 class, featuring cars with naturally aspirated engines of between 4,000 cc and 6,250 cc. The LFA qualified 22nd but finished 12th overall putting in a best lap time of 8:34.135.
In the SP3 class, the two GAZOO Racing Toyota 86 cars, #305 and #304, finished 3rd and 4th in class. Overall, the 86’s came in 85th and 96th respectively out of a field of over 200 cars.
Returning to the Nürburgring from a successful first outing two weeks earlier, Toyota Swiss Racing Team’s TMG race-prepared GT86, #528 and #529, finished 2nd and 3rd in the V3 class. You may remember in the VLN2 race, the two Swiss GT86’s competed in the SP3 class against more race modified production models. The race organisers have now moved the Swiss entries to V3 class for more road-going production models with engine displacement between 1,800 cc and 2,000 cc.
Next up: it’s the big one. The 24 Hours Nürburgring race takes place in two weeks time. Keep following us for the latest from the Green Hell!
