TMG GT86 CS-V3

The first-ever TMG GT86 Cup season is getting ever closer and the imagination is starting to run wild with the thought of several of these stunning race cars fighting it out around the awesome Nürburgring Nordschleife.

The TMG GT86 CS-V3 is well known by now as a cost-effective and very competitive race car – and Toyota Motorsport GmbH has been extremely busy dealing with the high level of interest caused by its launch.

Now we have the added excitement of the TMG GT86 Cup, and for this TMG has received a flood of inquiries wanting to know more information.

As always, it’s a step-by-step process to clarify all details but we are happy to put some meat on the bones…

Season starting March 23

Finally the VLN calendar has been published, so we know the TMG GT86 Cup will begin at the Nürburgring on 23 March, with the 10th and final race of the season coming on 26 October.

We are already planning to provide Cup branded race suits for our drivers, considering the likely temperatures in the Eifel, maybe we need to add some thermal underwear to the list as well!

Come rain or shine, the field of GT86 CS-V3 race cars will always be on the right rubber after an agreement with Pirelli to supply its premium tyres to the Cup, with competitors receiving exclusive discounts.

Points make prizes as they say, and as well as receiving a free set of Pirellis for winning the Cup class at each race, the overall winner at the end of the season will receive a tasty €20,000, with substantial prizes going down to fourth place.

Cost-effective and very competitive race car

That promises to give an extra edge to the competition and we’re looking forward to seeing some serious scrapping.

Before racing can commence, the field of Cup cars needs to be completed. For the past few weeks, TMG has been a production line of GT86 stripping and conversion, with the first cars already on the way to proud owners.

Just a few metres away from the GT86 CS-V3 cars, the 2013-specification TS030 HYBRID is being readied for its first tests next month.

It’s the time of the motorsport year when deadlines speed into view, task lists grow and judgement day looms. We’re on schedule for a great TMG GT86 Cup in 2013 and we’ll keep you posted as the final details are confirmed.
